Getting up from a chair, carrying groceries, and climbing stairs are good reasons to keep training as you get older. Your routine can focus on the strength and balance you need for the activities you want to keep doing.
Include strength and balance work
The World Health Organization recommends that older adults include muscle-strengthening activities and varied activity that works on balance. These support physical function and help reduce falls.
At DhattFit, we begin with your current ability and experience. We choose exercises you can manage, explain the technique, and adjust the difficulty as you progress.
Choose activity you enjoy
Walking, swimming, cycling, and other activities can be part of your week. What you choose depends on your preferences, access, and health needs. Start with an amount you can manage and build up gradually.
Plan around your actual week
A routine needs a place in your schedule. We discuss when you can train, what equipment is available, and which activities matter to you. If a session is too long or an exercise is uncomfortable, that is something to review together.
You might be working toward longer walks, an easier time on the stairs, or the confidence to return to the gym. Having a specific goal helps us decide what to practise and how to track progress.
Get help choosing a starting point
Beginners and experienced exercisers need different starting points. We consider your training history, current ability, and any exercise guidance from your healthcare team.
